Honduras Mission

POSTPONED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

This Veterinary Medicine & Public Health mission trip to Honduras has been going on for 32 years. Father Jay has been on this trip 11 times. And Grace Church has participated for the past 5 years. This year, Grace sent five missionaries on this mission.  We don't preach, instead we show our love by doing and building relationships with the people we serve.  The Hondurans work WITH us, and there is a place on this team just waiting for you.

The central location for this mission is in Siguatepeque, about halfway between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

Approximately 50 people serve on this mission annually: 10 on the public health team, and 8 each on five veterinary teams.

The public health team coordinates with public schools in and around Siguatepeque to provide vision screening for children.

In 2019, over 1800 children were screened, with 275 of them receiving glasses to help them see better.

The veterinary teams spread out to over 20 different villages in the mountains surrounding Siguatepeque.

In 2019, they treated over 5600 animals in just four days.

As we prepare for 2020, applications are open now until December 31, 2019 and can be found on the www.lovehonduras.org website.  Please, step out in FAITH and join Riva and the team - you won't regret it.   If you have questions - contact Riva Heron at Heronzoo@gmail.com.  Remember, it may be called a veterinary mission, but you DO NOT have to be a veterinarian to participate.  We especially need folks that are fluent in Spanish, but if all you can say is "taco" - you should COME!

Guatemala Mission

Coming Summer 2021

Jamie George has been on two previous mission trips to Guatemala. But 2019 was the first time Grace Church had been on a mission trip to Guatemala. Our team was led by Jamie George, and partnered with a team from the Diocese of NW Texas and three additional people from our diocese.

The team went to Chichicastenango, in the "state" of El Quiche, Guatemala. Chichi is about 90 northwest of Guatemala City.

The goal of this mission trip was to build two houses for widows with children still living at home.

Persevering through a variety of travel difficulties, our team accomplished their goal.

Plans for a return mission trip to Guatemala in the Summer of 2021 will begin soon.

Email Jamie George if you would like to be added to the list of those wanting information about the 2021 mission.
